THIS IS HOW I MAKE PUMPKIN PUREE FOR PIES.

  • EQUIPMENT:
  • Large stock pot.
  • INGREDIENTS:
  • Fresh pumpkin (smaller is better, from your garden is better yet)
  • Water

Directions
  1. Cut pumpkin into manageable sections.
  2. Put into stockpot.
  3. Cover with water.
  4. Boil until pumpkin meat can be pierced easily with butterknife.
  5. Drain and allow to cool.
  6. Remove skin.
  7. Puree.
  8. Can be frozen in zipper bags.
  9. Try this in my Houdini Pumpkin Praline Pie, IT IS EXCELLENT!

This turned out so well. I can not believe I haven't done this in the past. My family raved about the pie and the only thing I changed was fresh pumpkin instead of canned!!! I hope you don't mind the picture...


Fabulous trick.... I should really try and make homemade puree... another reason to use up those pumpkins with the upcoming season...
