This is an incredible recipe. My niece got it from a lieutenant's wife when she was living on base in Germany while my nephew was serving in Iraq. This woman is supposed to be a phenominal cook. These are incredible. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 medium white onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon steak seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 16 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Directions
  1. Mix ground chuck, egg, seasoning salt, chopped onion, breadcrumbs and catsup together.
  2. Take cabbage and put under hot water and let it run over cabbage until leaves come off easily.
  3. Prepare a large pot of hot water and let it simmer to a rolling boil.
  4. Put cabbage leaves in the hot water for a few minutes until they are soft then drain and let cool.
  5. Roll meat mixture in the long part of the cabbage leaf and fix it together with a toothpick.
  6. Brush top of rolls with butter pats and wrap with bacon.
  7. Put into a large baking dish and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour.
  8. Pour tomato sauce which has been mixed with oregano, garlic, onion flakes and salt over rolls.
  9. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
