How to make it

  • Cut tops off tomatoes and core. Set aside.
  • ******** STUFFING: ********
  • Crumble stale bread slices in medium bowl.
  • Add garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Grate cheddar cheese over all.
  • Add enough melted margarine for stuffing to stick together.
  • Stuff tomatoes evenly.
  • ******** NOTE: ********
  • All ingredients are "to taste" and "until it looks right". I generally use one slice of bread for every 2 to 3 medium tomatoes, enough cheese to almost double the amount in the bowl, and about 1/4 cup margarine for every two slices of bread. Karen Hamby.

  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 F. (or can be ccooked on the gas grille).
