Japanese Tonkatsu Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup catsup (tomato sauce)
  • 1/2 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup sake (Japanese rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet cooking sauce)

Directions
  1. Put all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring occasionally
  2. Reduce to a simmer for 25-30 minutes skimming any foam that rises to the top
  3. To serve warm, serve immediately
  4. Will keep refrigerated for 4 weeks
  5. Reheat when reusing (microwave or over gentle heat until it is warmed through)
