Currant Scones

- 2 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 6 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 1/3 cup dried currants shopping list
- 1 beaten egg shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 1 slightly beaten egg shopping list
How to make it
- In a mixing bowl stir together first 4 ingredients.
- Cut in butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in currants.
- Add the first beaten egg and milk; stir just till dough clings together.
- Knead gently on a lightly floured surface (12 to 15 strokes)
- Cut dough in half; shape each half into a ball.
- Pat or roll to a 6 inch circle.
- Cut each circle into 8 wedges.
- Place wedges on an ungreased baking sheet so sides of wedges dont touch.
- Brush with the slightly beaten egg.
- Bake in oven for 10 minutes.
- Serve warm with butter and jam.
