Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oil on medium high heat.
  • Fry onions until slightly browned.
  • Reduce heat to medium.
  • Add garlic, curry, and paste.
  • Stir and simmer about 2 minutes.
  • Add chick peas, liquid, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  • Simmer 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add red pepper to taste.
  • Add margarine, stirring through to melt it.
  • Stir and simmer for 5 minutes more or until peas are softened and dish is hot.
  • Serve over rice.
  • OTHER: I cook green peas on the side and serve them on top. You can also use 3/4 cup coconut milk instead of lemon juice, but i don't. This dish really relies on the curry powder, so get a good one if you don't already have.

I'm going to give this a try. I'm not much of a curry person but this really sounds interesting. Thanks.

Sounds good; I'll give it a try the next time the curry craving sets in! I'm an old curry lover. It's amazing how many kinds of curry there are. Just between the powdered Indian curries and the Thai curry pastes (yum, yum), there must be at about 10 different kinds of curry in my kitchen at the moment. (And that doesn't include the homemade combinations.)
