How to make it

  • Place the drained beans, ketchup, and brown sugar.in large sauce pan.
  • Simmer on low about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add onion and bell pepper. Simmer additional 10 minutes
  • Pour into large 13 x 9 baking dish.
  • Separate bacon and lay on top of beans until covered.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 50 mins- 1 hour or until bacon is as crisp as you like it.

    This sounds really good, similar to what my wife makes in a smaller portion. Have you considered adding yellow mustard? About three Tablespoons to a batch your size.

    Remember that saying "beans, beans good for your heart, the more you eat the more you ........, the more yu ........ the better you feel so let's eat beans at every meal". I am fixing pinto beans with a ham hock for dinner tonight.
