Italian Pasta Bake
From bigdog 17 years agoIngredients
- 1 medium jar of spaghetti sauce (I use Prego Traditional, use whatever or your own!) shopping list
- 1 pound ground beef (spice it up with some italian sausage, or lean it out with some ground turkey, but the total needs to be 1 lb.) shopping list
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, plus 1/4 cup same (real parm, or parm-reggiano would add that much more flavor!) shopping list
- 1 box of mini penne (I use Barilla) shopping list
- 8 oz. finely shredded mozzarella cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Cook the pasta until just shy of al dente. Meanwhile, brown the meat in a skillet.
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked meat, sauce, the 1/2 cup grated cheese, and the pasta until thoroughly combined.
- Put into a 9 X 13 pan (you may want to spray the pan to ease cleanup)
- Top with all (and more if you want) of the mozzarella and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup grated cheese.
- Bake in a pre-heated, 375 degree oven for 20 minutes.

I'm the opposite, only because I've never bothered to try to make my own red sauce. Someday I hope to, because I can only imagine that it would greatly increase the flavor of the dish.
As for canned sauce, I've found I prefer Prego, but th...morebigdog in Farmington loved it
