How to make it

  • Put oil in skillet and place in oven while preheating to 375 degrees.
  • Sauté onions in another skillet in margarine until tender then let cool.
  • Stir sour cream and 1/2 cup of cheese in onion mixture. Set aside.
  • In separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients together.
  • Remove skillet from oven and pour hot oil into cornmeal batter and stir until well blended.
  • Spoon batter into hot skillet.
  • Spread sour cream mixture on top of cornmeal.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until done.
