The Ultimate Cornbread

- 1/4 c oil shopping list
- 2 c onion, chopped shopping list
- 1/4 c butter shopping list
- 8 oz sour cream shopping list
- 1 c cheddar cheese, shredded, divided shopping list
- 1 1/2 c self-rising cornmeal shopping list
- 1 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1/4 tsp dill shopping list
- 2 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 1 can (8 oz) cream style corn shopping list
- 1/4 c milk shopping list
- Dash of hot sauce shopping list
- Cast Iron Skillet shopping list
How to make it
- Put oil in skillet and place in oven while preheating to 375 degrees.
- Sauté onions in another skillet in margarine until tender then let cool.
- Stir sour cream and 1/2 cup of cheese in onion mixture. Set aside.
- In separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients together.
- Remove skillet from oven and pour hot oil into cornmeal batter and stir until well blended.
- Spoon batter into hot skillet.
- Spread sour cream mixture on top of cornmeal.
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until done.
