Greek Style Squid

- clean and cut into chunks: 2 pounds squid, tentacles and tubes shopping list
- dry red wine (2 cups) shopping list
- whole cloves (5) shopping list
- 2 finely chopped medium onions shopping list
- 1/3 cup of olive oil shopping list
- 1/3 cup malt of vinegar shopping list
- 1/4 tbs black pepper (ground) shopping list
- bay leaves (2) shopping list
- 1 cinnamon stick (3 inch) shopping list
How to make it
- In a large saucepan, place the squid, onions, cinnamon stick, cloves and bay leaves. Cover and simmer over low heat approximately 10 minutes. The squid will release its own juices during this time. Next, uncover the pan and simmer until most of the juice has evaporated. Remove next the cinnamon stick, cloves, and bay leaves. Stir, and mix in the wine, olive oil, malt vinegar and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat for approximately one (1) hour, stirring occasionally. To thicken the sauce, remove the lid shortly before the end of cooking. To serve: ladle into bowls.
