Great and easy baked zitti dish, almost a knock off lasagne. this is a great dish from leftover ziti or rigatoni.

Ingredients
  • 1lb ziti or rigatoni noodles
  • 2 tlbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 lb extra lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb italian turkey sausage, casings removed
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 jar/can of sauce
  • 1 small can chopped tomatoes (16oz)
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper
  • 16 oz shredded mozzarella

Directions
  1. heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. boil heavily salted water and cook noodles al dente
  3. while noodles are cooking, heat a large sauce pan over medium heat
  4. add oil and garlic and saute lightly but do not brown
  5. add beef and sausage, break up and cook thoroughly
  6. add italian seasoning and tomatoes and cook 5 minutes
  7. add spaghetti sauce and reduce heat to low
  8. simmer for 25 minutes
  9. add noodles to sauce and toss
  10. layer mixture with cheese to a lasagne pan
  11. alternating pasta/meat with cheese
  12. top with cheese
  13. bake in oven for 35-45 minutes until cheese starts to brown and is bubbling
