This is a chocolate sheet cake that has become a family favorite! The recipe has been passed around for all my many years.

Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Frosting:
- 1 stick butter
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- pinch of salt
- 1 16 ounce box powdered sugar (4 cups)
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Directions
- Cake:
- Mix dry ingredients together.
- Melt butter, and mix with add water, cocoa and buttermilk.
- Add to dry mix.
- Beat eggs and vanilla and add to mix.
- Bake for about 20 minutes at about 375 degrees.
- Frosting:
- Melt all ingredients together. Ice the cake while slightly warm.

I agree with Henrie. This is a delicious cake, and especially with the addition of the 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Some recipes do not call for the cinnamon. Great post. :)

Oh my...another chocolate cake recipe...I'm doomed. Each recipe looks better than the last. I have a mission and I will complete it....to find the worlds best chocolate cake, and so sad for me, I'm the judge that gets to try them all. Oh well, I'm dedicated and will not be detoured.
