Easy Wheaty Apple - Cinnamon Buns Recipe
It doesn't get much easier than a cake mix, quick yeast and some whole-wheat flour, and it doesn't get much tastier than melted butter and spices, either!

Ingredients
  • 5 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 2 packages quick-rise yeast
  • 2 ½ cups warm water
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 4 cups flour, dry cake mix, yeast and warm water until smooth.
  2. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
  5. Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half.
  6. Roll each portion into a 14-in. x 10-in. rectangle.
  7. Combine melted butter and apple butter in a small bowl.
  8. Brush dough with butter mixture; sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  9. Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side.
  10. Cut each roll into 12 slices; place cut side down in two greased 13”x 9” baking pans.
  11. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, about 20 minutes.
  12. Bake at 400F for 10-15 minutes.
