Apple dumplings

- 2c plus 2T sugar shopping list
- 2c water shopping list
- 1t cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4t nutmeg shopping list
- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 6 apples shopping list
- 2c flour shopping list
- 2t baking powder shopping list
- 1t salt shopping list
- 3/4c cold butter cut into pieces shopping list
- 1/2c milk shopping list
- splash of lemon juice shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375
- In saucepan combine 2c sugar, water 1/2 t cinnamon and 1/4 t nutmeg. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar has dissolved. Add 4t butter and splash of lemon juice. Stir until incorporated. Set syrup aside.
- Peel, core and chop apples. Set aside.
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in 3/4c cold butter, until dough resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and stir.
- Divide dough into 6 balls. Rolll into 1/4" square. Spoon some apples into each square. Combine 2T sugar and 1/2t cinnamon and sprinkle on top of apples. Dot with remaining 4T butter, then fold corners into center and pinch edges to form a star shaped pouch.
- Place in greased baking dish and spoon syrup over top.
- Bake 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm, spooning syrup from pan over top.
