This is the best bread pudding I have made. This does not get watery after it sits in the refrigerator. It has a carmel sauce texture on the bottom.

Ingredients
  • 6 slices day old bread cut into 1/2" cubes
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Directions
  1. Place bread cubes in a 2 qt. baking dish (8X8 square pan).
  2. Combine water and brown sugar, pour over bread.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients, pour over bread.
  4. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes until knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  5. Serve warm or cold.
