This is from the Murphy family reunion cookbook. This recipe was from my great grandmother passed down to my Grandma Teresa and given to us by my Aunt Margaret Murphy.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients ,mix dough until sticky.
  2. Put halfs in two 9 inch cake pans lightly greased.
  3. Bake in preheated 350* oven for 1 hour.
  4. Cut a cross in top of loafs when taken from the oven.
  5. Best to eat the day it is baked.
  6. Any leftovers makes great toast.

Ah, that sounds sooooooooo much better than over-soda'ed recipe I used last weekend! And that recipe came from Cordon Bleu cookbook! You'd think those big shot chefs know something about cooking... Sheesh!
