Gold Nugget Flan

- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, (14 ounce) shopping list
- 1 cup of milk shopping list
- 3 large eggs shopping list
- 3 large egg yolks shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract shopping list
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla shopping list
- 1 cup of butterscotch pieces shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- In a small sauce pan, melt sugar over medium heat until the sugar is a adark caramel colored liquid, stirring constantly.
- Pour into a 4 cup ring mold. Let cool so that the caramel hardens.
- Put remaining ingredients (except the butterscotch pieces) in a blender and mix well.
- Pour this mixture into the ring mold over the hardened caramel.
- Put this mold inside a larger pan with with water 1/2 inch deep.
- Bake one hour.
- Very carefully remove from oven and place on wire rack to cool ust enough to be able to remove the flan pan from the water getting burnt.
- Refrigerate and chill.
- To serve, cover the top of the mold with a large plate, and flip.
- The caramel will drizzle down the set custard.
- Sprinkle the top with the butterscotch pieces to mimic gold nuggets!
