Ingredients
  • ¼ cup of bacon dripping
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • ½ cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Temp: 450º F Time: 10 - 15 min. I use a glass pie plate so if you also do, turn the heat down to 425°F.

Directions
  1. combine well-beaten egg and milk; beat till light.
  2. Gradually beat in sifted flour and salt; beat till smooth.
  3. Let stand 30 minutes.
  4. Put the bacon dripping into an 8"x8" baking pan or divided up between 6 large muffin tins.
  5. Heat in oven, make sure you watch pan as it will start to smoke!
  6. Pour batter into hot pan;
  7. bake in hot over for 10-15min
  8. The trick is the hot fat and the hot oven. with the cold flour mix.
  9. Don't keep opening the oven to check.
  10. Serve immediately as it will deflate as it gets cold. Pour nice hot gravy over top. Or you can use "Yorkies" plates serving each portion of meat and veg in it with gravy
