How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Grease the cups of a 12-cup muffin pan. (or use paper cup liners)
  • Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in oats.
  • Add egg, milk, syrup and maple extract.
  • Stir only until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Fill muffin tins 3/4 full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, and let stand a few minutes before removing muffins from the pan.
  • Enjoy! :)

    Do you have a recipe for the drizzle that is shown in the picture? I can just taste the maple flavor, even without eating them. The drizzle just looks like it would be the (sorry) icing on the cake!
    I added this recipe to my muffin groups.
