Maple Muffins Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1/4 c. white sugar

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 c. shortening

1/4 c. rolled oats

1 egg, beaten

1/2 c. milk

1/2 c. real maple syrup

1/4 tsp. maple extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Grease the cups of a 12-cup muffin pan. (or use paper cup liners)

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in oats.

Add egg, milk, syrup and maple extract.

Stir only until dry ingredients are moistened.

Fill muffin tins 3/4 full.

Bake for 18-20 minutes.

Remove from oven, and let stand a few minutes before removing muffins from the pan.

Do you have a recipe for the drizzle that is shown in the picture? I can just taste the maple flavor, even without eating them. The drizzle just looks like it would be the (sorry) icing on the cake!
