Old Fashioned Coleslaw

- 1 head cabbage, sliced thin shopping list
- 1 large sweet white onion, chopped fine shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1 cup vinegar shopping list
- 1 tsp celery seed shopping list
- 1/2 tsp black pepper shopping list
- 1 T salt shopping list
How to make it
- Layer cabbage and onion in large bowl. Pour sugar on top, but do not stir.
- In a small saucepan, combine vegetable oil, vinegar, celery seed, pepper and salt; bring to a boil. Pour hot mixture over cabbage and again, do not stir. Let stand 1 hour, then cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
- Stir before serving
- This will keep up to 2 weeks in refrigerator.
