This stew recipe comes from my mom. The best thing is that you don't have to brown the beef first - just throw it all together. The flavour is so rich.

Ingredients
  • 2 lb stewing beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 small can tomato soup
  • 1 can water
  • 1 c thickly sliced carrots
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 4 celery stalks, chopped large
  • 2 onions, thickly sliced
  • 3 lg. raw potatoes, cut in 3
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions
  1. Do not brown meat.
  2. Mix all ingredients together in a casserole dish with tight-fitting lid. Bake 5 hours at 275°
