This is one of my favorites! I found the recipe when I was about 12, and have been making it ever since. Even my boyfriend (who hates sweet & sour foods) loved it! So I call it Ruthie's chicken instead. It goes really well with white or brown rice.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup vinegar (I use red wine vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 4 chicken breast/ boneless skinless

Directions
  1. In small saucepan combine sugar & cornstarch-blend well
  2. Add in Vinegar, Oil, Ketchup & Garlic salt - mix well
  3. Cook Over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils-stir often
  4. Heat Oven to 350
  5. Bake Chicken for 30 minutes
  6. Glaze chicken with mixture
  7. And bake an additional 15-25 minutes.
