African Steaks Recipe
This is a rub made from dry spices ground with pumpkin seeds. You can use other seeds or nuts if you want.

Ingredients
  • 2 8-12 oz Flank Steaks (or 2 10 oz New York Strip Steaks*)
  • * if you are using NY Strips add 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup of pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp five spice
  • Orange rind from 1/8th of an orange

Directions
  1. On a cookie sheet spread out all the dry ingredients except the brown sugar and broil for 2-3 minutes on middle rack.
  2. Grind all ingredients except oil in a coffee grinder.
  3. Take mixture and rub into meat. If you using NY strip steaks coat meat in olive oil first.
  4. Cook steaks on high to desired doneness.
  5. Enjoy.

Yeah a lot of people do not realize that pumpkins are african.
