Cheesy Hamburger Pie

- 4 or 6 rashers of bacon, depending on the size of your dish. shopping list
- 500g lean mince - your choice of meat type shopping list
- 114g wholemeal bread, whizzed in a processor to make breadcrumbs shopping list
- 84g half fat cheddar cheese, grated shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 tbsp Helmans Extra light mayonnaise shopping list
- 2 tbsp sweet pickle shopping list
- 2 tsp dry mustard shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 6 tbsp tomato ketchup shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 180c/350f/gas mark 4
- Cook the bacon under a grill for about 3 minutes then set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, use your hands gently but thoroughly mix together the mince, breadcrumbs, half the grated cheese, chopped onion, mayonnaise, pickle, mustard and egg.
- Pat the mixture into a shallow baking pan.
- Spread the top of the pie with the ketchup, then lay the cooked bacon strips over the top.
- Bake until the pie is firm and the bacon is crisp (about 45 - 50 mins).
- Sprinkle the top of the pie with the remaining cheese to melt during the last 5 mins of baking.
- Let the pie stand in the baking dish for 10 mins, then cut into portions
