This recipe came from Giada De Laurentis on "Everyday Italian". You can cut it into squares like she does or into wedges like a pie. Either way its delicious.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 3 eggs-beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled,chopped,and toasted hazelnuts(Filberts)
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter-melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 store bought frozen pie crust-thawed

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. In large bowl,mix together sugar and flour.
  3. Add eggs,chocolate chips,hazelnuts,corn syrup,vanilla,butter and salt. Stir well.
  4. Pour into pie crust.
  5. Bake 1 hour.
  6. Cool 30 minutes before serving.
  7. Note:
  8. Where I live hazelnuts/filberts are extremely hard to find and/or very expensive so I substitute macadamia nuts,cashews,peanuts,or pecans.

You are lucky to get pecans and macadamia nuts cheaply, here they cost a bomb!!! hazel/filberts on the other hand are reasonably priced or you can pick your own in season.

I prefer to blind bake my bases and seal them with egg before adding the filling, just a thought.
