Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oven to 425°F .
  • Grease large baking sheet.
  • In large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt
  • With pastry blender or two knives cut in butter until resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in Parmesan and ¾ cup cheese.
  • Add mustard to dry ingredients, along with mixed chives.
  • Add milk and mix lightly with fork until mixture clings together and forms a soft dough. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead 5 to 6 times.
  • Divide dough in half and by hand, shape one half of dough into a 7 inch round.
  • Cut into 6 wedges.
  • Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Place scones 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet.
  • Pierce top with tines of fork. Brush tops with water and sprinkle on remaining cheese. Bake scones 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with butter.

    Yummy is all I can say about this receipe. Of course I'll make it for people I know who'll enjoy it...much better that way. Love to see people munching on whatever I cook. Phyllis

    aubreeu ate it and said...
    I made these for a family gathering and they were a big hit! They have a crispy crust, a soft middle and a wonderful flavor. I used 1/2 Romano cheese and 1/2 cheddar cheese because of the soup I was serving, but I'm sure all cheddar is wonderful as well. They were easy to make and the recipe yielded 12 large scones. Thanks for posting this recipe Thepiggs!
