Cheese and Chive Scones

- 4 cup unsifted flour shopping list
- 4 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- ⅔ cup butter shopping list
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese shopping list
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated shopping list
- 1 tablespoon prepared Dijon mustard shopping list
- ½ cup mixed garlic and onion chives, chopped shopping list
- 1⅓ cup milk shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 425°F .
- Grease large baking sheet.
- In large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt
- With pastry blender or two knives cut in butter until resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in Parmesan and ¾ cup cheese.
- Add mustard to dry ingredients, along with mixed chives.
- Add milk and mix lightly with fork until mixture clings together and forms a soft dough. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead 5 to 6 times.
- Divide dough in half and by hand, shape one half of dough into a 7 inch round.
- Cut into 6 wedges.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- Place scones 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet.
- Pierce top with tines of fork. Brush tops with water and sprinkle on remaining cheese. Bake scones 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter.

I made these for a family gathering and they were a big hit! They have a crispy crust, a soft middle and a wonderful flavor. I used 1/2 Romano cheese and 1/2 cheddar cheese because of the soup I was serving, but I'm sure all cheddar is wonderful as...more
