Typical dessert for the Mardi gras and Carnival. It has many different names depending on the region (Rome: frappe; tuscany: cenci etc.)

Ingredients
  • 500 gr farina / flour
  • 100 gr. zucchero / sugar
  • 1 cucchianino di sale / tsp salt
  • 2 uova / eggs
  • 50 gr. burro / butter
  • 1 bicchierino di vino bianco / 1 very small coffee cup of white wine

Directions
  1. Impastare tutti gli ingredienti e lasciar riposare la pasta per 30 min.
  2. Stendere la pasta il più sottile possibile (meglio se con la macchinetta per la pasta).
  3. Friggere in abbondante olio caldo (175°)
  4. Scolare bene e lasciare freddare
  5. Cospargere con zucchero a velo
  6. Mix all ingredients and let the dough rest for 30 min.
  7. Roll out the dough as thin as possible
  8. Deep fry in hot oil (175 c°)
  9. Drain well and allow to cool
  10. Dust with icing sugar
