In our town we have a doughnut shop called The Spudnut Shop..... Everyone wants Spudnuts...These little jewels are delicious...

Ingredients
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup mashed potatoes
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 5 to 6 cups sifted flour
  • Icing:
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Directions
  1. Mix all ingredients together and let rise.
  2. Work down and roll out dough.
  3. Cut out with doughnut cutter
  4. Fry in Deep fat, then glaze with icing
