How to make it

  • wash chicken, pat dry
  • put into pot with salted water and granulated chicken broth
  • add onion, bay leave and lovage
  • put lid on, bring water to a boil, remove froth with slotted spoon.
  • reduce temperature to middle setting.
  • after approx. 30 minutes, remove bay leave, onion and lovage
  • add 'suppengrün'
  • leave to cook for about another 30 minutes.
  • remove chicken
  • put broth through strainer.
  • now, add sliced carrots, some leek, whatever vegetables you'd like, slice them up. let them cook until tender - leave soup as is,w ithout vegetables.
  • you may want to cook separately either rice or noodles to add to the soup. don't cook them in the soup as it will make the broth look milky
  • now, whenever i have a cold, (and also when i don't), i cook chicken soup. and breeeeeaaaath in the steam. drink it out of a soup cup.
  • believe me - it is simply the best. good for the soul, too.
