Poached Apples

- 3/4 C sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 C water shopping list
- 1 slice of lemon shopping list
- 6 cooking apples(2 lbs) shopping list
- nutmeg shopping list
How to make it
- Cook sugar, water and lemon slice for about 5 minutes
- Remove lemon slice
- Remove syrup from heat until apples are ready
- Peel, core and slice apples (1/4 to 1/2 ' slices)
- Bring syrup to a simmer
- Cook a few slices at a time until tender, placing cooked slices in a bowl
- Do not overcook apples, they should be tender, not mushy
- Add more water to syrup as needed
- Pour syrup over apples when finished
- Serve warm or chilled as a dessert
- Sprinkle with nutmeg before serving
- 4 to 6 servings
