How to make it

  • FOR CAKE:
  • Combine cake mix, 1&1/4c. of the root beer, oil & eggs.
  • Beat on low speed for 2 min.
  • Pour batter into prepared 13x9" pan.
  • Bake @ 350F for 30-35 min.
  • Cool completely.
  • FOR TOPPING:
  • Combine whipped topping mix & remaining root beer.
  • Beat until soft peaks form.
  • Frost cake.
  • Store remaining cake in the refrigerator.

    I tried this for company the other night, and while it was an overall good cake, I was disappointed in the weakness of the root beer flavor. The cake itself was moist, and had a tinge of coloring towards rootbeer, but the rootbeer flavor wasn't there. For the whipped cream I went with real heavy whipping cream, added about a cup of rootbeer and about a half cup of sugar. That had more rootbeer flavor then the cake.
