A simple dinner stew with chicken and apples. Goes well with broccoli and biscuits

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds bonelss chicken thighs (about six)
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Large onion, sliced
  • Cinnamon
  • Sage
  • Thyme
  • Chicken broth (1/2 cup)
  • Granny Smith apple (1), peeled, seeded, and finely chopped
  • Apple Butter (2 tbsps)
  • Half n' Half (1/2 cup)

Directions
  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper, and brown in skillet in 1 tbsp butter over medium high heat
  2. Add onion, cook 2 minutes
  3. Add 1 tsp sage, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp thyme. Stir
  4. Add Chicken Broth, apple, and apple butter. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low and cover. Cook until chicken is cooked through, about five minutes.
  6. Add half and half, cook 2 minutes more.

Interesting combo of ingredients. I definitely want to try this.


This is similar to a dish from Normandy I used to make. It sounds interesting. I'll try it in apple season and come back.
