New Orleans Bread Pudding

- 12-14 slices day old bread shopping list
- 4 cups milk shopping list
- 1 cup cream shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 1/4 cup buttter, melted shopping list
- 1 cup raisins (optional) shopping list
- rum Sauce shopping list
- 1 can evaporated milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 tbs cornstarch shopping list
- 2 oz. whiskey or dark rum shopping list
How to make it
- Tear bread into pieces and add milk and cream. Beat eggs and add sugar and mix well. Add to bread mixture and add vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in butter. add raisins if desired. Pour into 2 quart baking dish that has been greased with butter. Set in larger pan of warm water. Water should be about an inch deep. Bake at 350 until knife inserted in center comes out clean, about one hour.
- Rum or Whiskey Sauce
- add cornstarch to milk and stir until dissolved. Add sugar and liquor and heat until slightly thickened. Dress each serving of Bread Pudding individually.
