Mexican Pralines Recipe
This recipe won 1 st place in a local cook off. I have never made these but they sound so good to me...

Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 can (5.33) evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons white karo syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped

Directions
  1. Mix first 4 ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Add pecans and cook to soft ball candy stage (238 degrees)
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Beat until creamy
  5. Drop by teaspoons on waxed paper

I've never made pralines before - isn't there difficulty trying to beat the mixture with the pecans in it?


The pecans should be chopped......I forgot to add that..... that way it is easier to beat..


I have had this here in Los Angeles, they sell it here in the Mexican shops, so good.


Pralines are the simplest candies there is to make. Here in MS they charge an arm and leg for one box or even just one. True, they are sweet but ooooooh so good.
