Ingredients
  • 6 oz sliced almonds
  • About 60 saltine crackers
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 lbs butter
  • 2 T light corn syrup
  • 1/2 lb bittersweet chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Toast almonds until golden.
  2. Butter 12x17 baking sheet. Arrange crackers in a single layer on the bottom tf the baking sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan combine sugar, butter, corn syrup. Cook over low heat until the sugar is melted. Continue to cook over moderate heat without stirring until it starts to brown around the edges. Stir with a wooden spoon until honey colored and temperature reaches 300 degrees.
  4. Pour the caramel over the crackers covering evenly. Cool for a couple of minutes and then sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and spread evenly as they melt.
  5. Freeze the toffee until it sets, about 15 minutes or so.
  6. Break into shards and serve.
