Ingredients
  • ½ lb pinto beans dry (can substitute with 2 cans of precooked )
  • 4 italian sausages
  • 1 onion cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 bay leaves
  • half a glass of red wine
  • salt
  • hot pepper if desired

Directions
  1. Soak the beans in water with a teaspoon of baking soda overnight
  2. Drain the water from the beans, wash them.
  3. In a frying pan mix the olive oil, the sausage and the onion, the hot pepper (if desired), 4-cook it until the sausage and the onion brown.
  4. Add the beans the wine and let it evaporate.
  5. Add water and cook until the beans are tender and (you can use a pressure cooker).
  6. Keep the fire on until the extra water evaporates and it reaches a creamy consistency.
  7. Add salt as needed
  8. * For canned beans start from step 3
