Again another recipe to go with the plain cake recipe of olde.

Ingredients
  • Boiled Icing
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 tablespoons boiling water
  • Boil for 10 to 12 minutes, until the mixture dropped from a spoon spins a thread.
  • Stir this mixture into:
  • 1 egg white stiffly beaten
  • Until thick and creamy.
  • Flavor with lemon, almond, or vanilla.

Directions
  1. Dip knife in hot water occasionally when spreading icing on cake.

Hi tilelaith ,does this icing harden like a royal icing ? perhaps....can i use it to write on the cake?

I do not know if it does. I got the recipe from my Grandma and everytime I make the cake, the kids eat it before I get to the frosting. LOL sorry

I think this frosting has a soft marshmallow consistency.


I think this frosting had the consistency of soft marshmallows. My mom used to make a similar one.
