Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt chocolate and water together in large bowl, either in microwave or in top of double boiler
  • Stir well, set aside to cool
  • Sift together flour, baking soda, salt in medium bowl
  • Set aside
  • In large bowl, cream butter, sugar together until light and fluffy
  • Add eggs one at a time
  • Stir in vanilla
  • Add flour mixture alternately with chocolate mixture and buttermilk,
  • Mix until just combined
  • Grease three 9 inch round cake pans, line bottoms with parchment paper
  • Divide batter evenly into the three pans
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean and cake springs back when lightly pressed
  • Cool in pans for about 15 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely, removing the parchment paper
  • FILLING
  • In large saucepan over medium heat, stir together condensed milk, egg yolks, and butter.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, for about 10 minutes, or until thick and bubbly
  • Remove from heat, stir in coconut, pecans, and vanilla
  • Cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally
  • Spread between cake layers, then top of cake
  • IT LOOKS NICE IF IT SPILLS OUT A LITTLE BETWEEN THE LAYERS
  • ALSO MAY DOUBLE THE FILLING FOR EXTRA WONDERFUL GOODNESS :)

    I seen this cake and I have a similar one to this one.The one that I got is called German Coffee Cake I got it from my boyfriends sister.
