How to make it

  • 1. Spray a large saucepan wth low fat cooking spray.
  • 2. Add okra, corn, tomatoes and basil then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until okra is tender.
  • 3. Add salt and pepper to taste.

    Thepiggs are correct, that's why it's used in Gumbo. I'm like you, I eat it anyway I can get it.

    This recipe sounds like something my hubby would like. We have a lot of okra in the freezer now and this would be a great way to use some of it before the next crop starts coming in!

    I don't think the "slime" will be as much of a problem with it being cooked with the tomatoes and corn. It should just turn in to a thickener, which I think is good.

    I like okra as will,but how do you de-slime it? I use to have a recipe that told,but don't have it any longer.Okra and Tomatoes and all the other, sounds good. Thank-you for the recipe.
