I've never been there, though I was born and raised in the Buffalo area probably long before the restaurant ever existed! I have a cookbook called "Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant that has some good ethnic recipes.(Sundays being 'ethnic' night). Closer to you,(tongue in cheek) is Chez Panisse, Alice Waters' restaurant...met her once at the UCLA Book festival, which btw is going on now.

Yep, we went to Chez Panisse for my birthday one year and while the food was really wonderful, the staff was so snotty it ruined our entire experience. We never went back. And I don't own any of her books. Too many other great places to choose from in the Bay Area. I hate places with BIG attitude.

OMG! I remember the Moosewood Cookbook. I learned how to cook using that thing! Somebody "borrowed" it, and, of course, never returned it; but I still have fond memories of that and "The Enchanted Broccoli Forest."
Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

This cookbook has some great vegetarian recipes. This was the first vegetarian cookbook I looked at when I was considering cutting down on my meat. I was amazed at how tasty and satisfying the recipes were! And lok at me now - a vegan! Thank you, Moosewood lady!
