Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar until well blended.
  • Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together; add alternately with milk.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Scrape sides of the bowl often.
  • Do not over beat!
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Butter and flour a 9 x 13 x 1/2 inch cake pan.
  • Pour in cake batter and smooth out so it fills entire bottom of the pan.
  • Sprinkle the crumbs on top of the cake.
  • Small crumbs work well but big crumbs will sink into the cake.
  • Bake on middle rack of oven for 25 minutes.
  • Check that the middle of the cake springs back when touched lightly.
  • Cool about 1 hour.
  • Dust generously with powdered sugar.

    Made it twice so far. Love it and so did everyone else. Replaced the milk for sourcream. Still moist if a tad overcooked.

    Yummy! I love crumb cake, it's one of my absolute faves. That and Irish Tea Cake. I cannot wait to make this. Another great addition might be to add chopped nuts to the crumb mixture. Yummy!
