Grandmas Crumb Cake

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 3 1/3 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- Crumbs: shopping list
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter shopping list
- 1 cup dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter and sugar until well blended.
- Add eggs and vanilla.
- Mix until smooth.
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together; add alternately with milk.
- Mix until smooth.
- Scrape sides of the bowl often.
- Do not over beat!
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Butter and flour a 9 x 13 x 1/2 inch cake pan.
- Pour in cake batter and smooth out so it fills entire bottom of the pan.
- Sprinkle the crumbs on top of the cake.
- Small crumbs work well but big crumbs will sink into the cake.
- Bake on middle rack of oven for 25 minutes.
- Check that the middle of the cake springs back when touched lightly.
- Cool about 1 hour.
- Dust generously with powdered sugar.
