I made this last night for dinner. Simply amazing and delicious. i have never made homemade oriental style food and has it taste nearly as good as this. Some differences: I used sesame oil and coated the chicken in corn starch, and used rice vinegar.

I made this for dinner tonight. Even my fussy hubby loved it! I wish I could post this on "I Made It" but since I used pork instead of chicken it doesn't quite fit the rules.

I have never cooked with ginger in this manner before, but it won't be the last time. The onions and ginger were almost better than the pork.

I let the pork sit about 30 minutes with salt, pepper and Chinese 5 spice before I browned it.

Fabulous recipe. I look forward to having it again. Thanks so much for the post.

Thanks for the clarification Pleclare. Brown the chicken. Soak the ginger for more flavor.

I'm going to try this preparation with pork instead of the chicken. Can you explain what the soaking of the ginger does for the process?

Do I assume correctly that the "brown in two batches" refers to browning the chicken in two batches - or is that the ginger after it has soaked?

I guess it would be the ginger if the chicken indicated is already cooked. Boy - I ask a lot of questions :(

This one sounds great! The cloves must make it smell wonderful, when it is cooking.
