How to make it

  • Make a syrup by boiling slowly the water and 1-1/2 cups sugar.
  • Sift and mix dry ingredients together then cut in butter and add lightly beaten egg and milk.
  • Pat dough to 1/2” thickness on lightly floured board.
  • Spread sliced apples on top of dough then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll up mixture then cut off in slices.
  • Set slices in cooled syrup mixture in a shallow baking pan.
  • Bake in a moderate oven until lightly browned and dough springs back from touch.
