Curried Pork Chops With Mushrooms Recipe
CURRIED PORK CHOPS WITH MUSHROOMS This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Tested by Good Housekeeping Institute.

Ingredients
  • 8 pork chops 1/2” thick
  • 1/2 pound mushrooms sliced
  • 4 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder

Directions
  1. Dredge chops with 1/4 cup flour and 1 teaspoon salt and pepper mixed.
  2. Rub a greased skillet with a clove of garlic if desired.
  3. Brown chops in skillet on both sides then place in a greased 2 quart casserole.
  4. Cover with mushrooms.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet then add onion and cook over low heat until golden brown.
  6. Stir in flour.
  7. Add remaining ingredients and cook over low heat stirring constantly until thickened.
  8. Pour sauce over chops then cover and bake at 350 for 1-1/2 hours or until tender.
  9. Skim off surface fat and serve.
