New England Boiled Dinner

- 4 - 5 lbs. corned beef brisket shopping list
- 1/2 bay leaf shopping list
- 5 peppercorns shopping list
- basil to taste shopping list
- thyme to taste shopping list
- parsley to taste shopping list
- 6 white or yellow turnips,peeled and sliced shopping list
- 8 carrots shopping list
- 4 parsnips,peeled shopping list
- 10 sm. onions,peeled shopping list
- 8 med. potatoes,peeled shopping list
- 1 green cabbage,cored,and cut into wedges shopping list
How to make it
- Place beef in deep kettle; cover with cold water.
- Add herbs,but no salt.
- Bring water to a boil,skimming off fat.
- Cover and simmer for 3-4 hrs.
- Add all vegetables,but for the cabbage;
- cook for about 20 min.
- Add cabbage;cook for about 25 min. longer or
- until all the vegetables are tender.
- Place the beef on a hot platter; surround with vegetables.
