How to make it

  • Peel and slice potatoes in thin cuts.
  • Cook and stir onion in butter until onion is tender then stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  • Cook over low heat stirring constantly until mixture is bubbly then remove from heat.
  • Stir in milk and 1-1/2 cups of the cheese then heat to boiling stirring constantly.
  • Boil and stir 1 minute then place potatoes in casserole dish.
  • Pour cheese sauce over potatoes then cook uncovered for 1 hour at 375.
  • Mix remaining cheese and bread crumbs then sprinkle over potatoes.
  • Cook uncovered until top is brown and bubbly about 20 minutes.
