Ingredients

How to make it

  • This is easy to make, delicious and looks great.
  • Line a jelly roll pan or a cookie sheet with a lip with heavy duty foil.
  • Place saltine crackers to fit neatly side by side ..
  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Meanwhile melt butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and stir until butter and sugar are completely melted and smooth.
  • With a spoon drop melted mixture evenly over the crackers and spread gently if needed to coat all crackers evenly.
  • Place in oven and bake 5 to 7 minutes or until crackers and caramel are golden.
  • Remove pan from heat and sprinkle over the chocolate chips.
  • Wait several minutes and use back of a spoon to evenly spread the chocolate which will start to melt.
  • Sprinkle over chopped nuts of choice ( walnuts, almonds , pecans etc. ).
  • Place pan in refrigerator about 1 hour to firm up everything.
  • Remove pan from refrigerator .
  • With a sharp knife, cut through hardened mixture, making even size pieces of choice.
  • Lift off carefully ( you may have to peel foil off bottom of pieces since the caramel may stick to the foil ).
  • Place squares on platter. Keep in a cool place or covered refrigerated until use.
  • Kids, especially seem to love this stuff. The recipe makes plenty and it is great to make for parties etc.
  • Be sure to prepare on a dry day !
