How to make it

  • Using a cookie cutter with a serrated edge about 2 inches in diameter, cut out 12 circles of bread.
  • Brush the circles with olive oil.
  • Toast them in the broiler, oiled isde up, until they are golden.
  • Preheat oven to 325 egrees.
  • Thoroughly blend the butter and anchovy fillets.
  • If you find the imported English anchovy sauce, a dash will improve and enrich the anchovy butter.
  • Spread the anchovy butter on the untoasted side of half the bread circles. cover with the other 6 circles, toasted side up.
  • Heat the rondelles gently in the oven and garnish with slivers of anchovy and dab of caviar just before serving.
