Poppy Seed Filling For Hamentaschen Recipe
This is a classic recipe for the poppy seed filling recipe for Hamentaschen. It doesn't have to be Purim to enjoy these cookies. Make them, freeze them, and pull some out when you need a goodie.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups poppy seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions
  1. Bring water to boil in a small saucepan
  2. Put seeds in a strainer and pour the boiling water over them.
  3. Drain thoroughly
  4. Grind the seeds in a food processor.
  5. Place the ground seeds in a medium saucepan and add the honey, sugar and salt.
  6. Cook over a low heat until thick and stir constantly until thick and blended well.

Hey, I fell in love with poppy seed rugelach (sp) from a very popular local Jewish bakery, do you think this filling would work? I've searched in vain for a recipe and would love to have your feedback on my question ~ thanx! Crystal :-)
