Chicken Paprika With Spatzle

- 1 chicken cut up or chicken breasts shopping list
- ½ c. flour shopping list
- 1 ½ tsp pepper shopping list
- ½ cup (1 stick) margarine shopping list
- 1 large onion chopped shopping list
- 2 tbsp paprika shopping list
- 1 cup chicken broth shopping list
- 1 cup light or heavy cream shopping list
- ½ cup sour cream shopping list
- Spatzle shopping list
- 3 cup flour shopping list
- 1tsp salt shopping list
- 3 eggs slightly beaten shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- Flour chicken in1 tsp of the salt and pepper until coated.
- Reserve 2 tbsp of the flour mix.
- Brown chicken in margarine in a large skillet and take out.
- Sauté onion in fat until golden brown.
- Add paprika, remaining ½ tsp salt and chicken broth.
- Bring to boil.
- Lower heat and return chicken.
- Turn to coat.
- Cover and cook for 30 mins or until chicken is tender.
- Remove chicken, keep warm.
- Stir in cream.
- Make a paste of the reserved 2 tbsp of flour and put in sour cream.
- Slowly stir into skillet.
- Cook stirring constantly until thickened.
- Return chicken.
- Serve over Spatzle.
- To make Spatzle:
- Combine flour and salt.
- Make well in center.
- Add eggs and water and mix thoroughly.
- Get dough with a tsp and put in boiling salted water.
- When they rise to the top scoop out and strain.
- Put into bowl with melted butter and keep warm.

This dish has all the right ingredients, My father-in-law, (true Hungarian) use to make it all the time, I never got his recipe, but he never really had one. It was all upstairs. Will enjoy making it. Thanks so much!
